About Us
The South West Hygienists' and Therapists' Society (SWHATS) is a non-profit making society aiming to provide education and a discussion forum to meet the real needs of hygienists and therapists. Meetings are held every other month, and include a light supper and drinks. Lectures and talks on pertinent issues are given by eminent speakers, and each evening is represented by a manufacturer to allow you to find out about new dental products.
We also have an Online Forum for hygienists and therapists to discuss issues relating to their work, comment on past lectures, and recommend future topics and speakers.

Synopsis:
- Dental litigation is a rapidly growing avenue for the ‘no win-no fee’ legal culture.
- Failure to diagnose or/and treat periodontal patients now forms the largest group of such litigation.
- DPS estimates that 30% of all their dental claims in some countries, are from this patient group.
- We will highlight clinical examples of such cases and the strategy to provide the care your patient needs and to avoid liability.
